A Fly Fishing Club in Central London for those that love fly fishing, enjoy the outdoors but don't always have the opportunity to escape. WFFC.

Start Fly Fishing

Ever picked up a rod or seen others doing it and fancied fly fishing? If you are a beginner, Andrew Hathaway will provide all teaching and guiding experiences so that you understand the water and the techniques that will allow you to catch on the reservoirs. However, if like me you found an old rod and reel in the shed or inherited one and fancy going out on your own, WFFC members will be on the water most days so please don't hesitate to ask for advice. Congratulations to Gary Morris who won our annual Macmillan Cancer Support charity Competition

Congratulations to Gary Morris for winning Thames Waters MacMillan charity  competition on the 27 May. This is a great event supported by Thames Water who provided great prizes on the day.

It was tough going in the sunshine but that did not halt the spirits of the anglers participating.

There were only two four fish limits caught and most struggled to catch but although the fishing was hard the fish caught were great quality fish.

The fish didn’t want any natural patterns and preferred boobies, fabs and snakes. Peter Baker fished next to Gary and saw him cast a long line with something white and ugly on a di3 for his fish on the railway bank.

George Pavli caught his four fish on the causeway of number five and there was only 2.5 ounces between the top two bags. Both had almost 12lb for their four fish limit.

It was a good turn out yesterday with most of the Stow regulars there hoping to win the prizes donated by TW. Well earned drinks in the Ferry Boat finished off the day.

First - Gary Morris winning a 4&5 season ticket

Second  - George Pavli winning a season ticket for the East Warwick.

Third - Peter Baker winning a boat for two on Farmoor.

All to play for in the Autumn League

The competition is hotting up with more than 5 anglers in with a chance of winning this year's Autumn league and an engraved anniversary fly box. The beauty of this year's competition is that even if you aren't in the running for the League title, you can still cash in if you catch the biggest fish.  Rumor has it that the big ones have now started to turn up so £5 entry could see you win the pot from the previous events too! It is a great social event, and you will (as always) learn all about the best flies, lines and methods that worked on the day in the Ferry Boat over a beer/coke afterwards.

The club enjoyed a great trip to Farmoor Reservoir

A great day was had by the 16 members that travelled to Farmoor Reservoir in Oxford for our (normally) annual trip. It was a great day with all anglers catching on a range of methods from snakes to buzzers and dries.  Buzzers and nymphs taking the lions share of fish. Thanks very much to Thames water who waived the fishing fees to Walthamstow season ticket holders.

For various reasons this trip hasn't been able to go ahead over the last 3 or 4 years but we intend to arrange this annually going forwards,

All fixtures for 2022 / 2023 season have now been updated

We are pleased to announce that we a planning a trip to Farmoor on the 7th of May. More detail will be added in due course so keep an eye on the website and social media. Also, if anyone is interested in joining our popular boat team please contact me : [email protected]. These competitions are open to all club members. Thanks.

Congratulations to Peter Baker who was voted new club Chairman at our recent AGM.

Congratulations to Peter Baker who will be taking over from Dave Jarvis as Chairman for the coming season.
On behalf of the club I would like to say a big thank you to Dave for all of his had work as chairman over the last 10 years.

Congratulations to Jacek Klekowski who won our Final Fling competition

Our members enjoyed a fantastic day at our final fling competition with fish caught all around both Reservoirs 4 & 5.

Well done to ever consistent Jacek Klekowski who won with the biggest fish weighing 3 pounds..

Most of the anglers chose to fish number 4 but Jacek gambled, finding a quiet spot and a large head of fish on the West bank of Reservoir 5.. He was rewarded with 25 fish including the heaviest on the day. Jacek caught his fish on buzzers under a bung.

There were no real lumps caught during the competition with most anglers getting more recently stocked fish of approximately 2lb but a lot of fish were caught in all areas.

This was the last competition of the 2021/22 season so it was nice to end on a high.

Congratulations to Harry Fox who won our Fur & Feather competition

What a great day was enjoyed by all anglers, the “Stow” finally switches on for the fur & feather. It was a beautiful sunny winters day and the fish turned up in abundance. Top 3 places were as follows:

1st Harry Fox

2nd Jim Dillon

3rd Andrew Smith

England international Harry showed his class yet again. Harry’s first fish was a cracking 4lb 11oz fish that also won him the prize for the largest fish. Harry caught his fish on the West Bank of number 4 using boobies fished deep.
Jim fished similar tactics on the West Bank of number 5 and likewise Andrew on the railway bank of number 4. As you can see the fish were well spread out on both lakes.
Although boobies fished deep were the most successful methods yesterday lots of anglers also caught on buzzer & bloodworm patterns under the “bung”.

It was great to see everything getting back to normal including the traditional weigh in at the “Ferry Boat” which the club haven’t been able to do for the last two years due to Covid restrictions.

As usual the celebrations went on till late at the pub after, and it was great to see all of our members having a good time,

Thank you once again Jacqueline Ferguson for putting together the fantastic prizes & hampers.

Congratulations to Vince King wo won our annual Autumn League. Great fishing Vince.
